About the Role
The Dangote Group, Africa's leading diversified business conglomerate, is seeking a diligent and proactive HSE Officer to join our dynamic team in Lagos, Nigeria. In this vital role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing safety policies, procedures, and statutory regulations within our bustling manufacturing facility. Your expertise will directly safeguard factory personnel, minimize workplace hazards associated with heavy industrial machinery, and maintain a robust zero-harm operational culture.
Key Responsibilities- Enforce company HSE policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and national industrial safety regulations across all factory floors.
- Monitor high-risk operational areas, ensuring strict adherence to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols during machine maintenance.
- Perform daily safety walkthroughs and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) to identify ergonomic, noise, and machinery guarding hazards.
- Lead thorough investigations into workplace accidents, near misses, and occupational injuries to determine root causes and implement preventive measures.
- Facilitate regular safety toolbox talks, employee orientations, and specialized training sessions on chemical handling and PPE compliance.
- Coordinate routine fire drills, emergency evacuation training, and comprehensive first-aid response simulations.
- Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- Recognized professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or approved local HSE credentials.
- Minimum of 2 to 4 years of hands-on HSE experience within a heavy manufacturing, plastics processing, or industrial production environment.
- Strong working knowledge of machine safeguarding, fire safety systems, waste management, and emergency response planning.
- Exceptional communication, analytical, and crisis-management skills with high attention to detail.
