As the HSE Coordinator, you will act as the primary safety focal point within the contractor organization, ensuring that all procedures, standards, and specifications are strictly adhered to. You will play a vital role in promoting a proactive safety culture, supporting technical teams, and maintaining full compliance with HSE regulations and company policies.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the primary contact for all safety-related matters within the contractor organization
- Ensure adherence to procedures, specifications, and industry standards
- Monitor and evaluate work performance at the power plant to ensure compliance with best practices
- Promote safe working practices and immediately address or escalate potential hazards
- Provide technical support to the preparation team for job planning and execution
- Track and communicate HSE key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Lead HSE awareness initiatives and assist in developing and delivering relevant safety training
- Ensure a safe working environment, particularly for hot work activities
- Apply strong ethical standards to maintain quality control across all site operations
- Implement Job Risk Assessments (JRAs), Permit to Work (PTW) systems, and mitigation measures in line with company HSE policies
- Provide leadership and technical guidance on HSE programs within the designated site area
- Stay updated on current HSE regulations, industry standards, and best practices to ensure optimal site safety
- BSc/BEng or HND in an Engineering discipline or related field
- Certification in Occupational/Construction Health & Safety (OSHA, CHST, STSC, or equivalent)
- 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in HSE roles
- Experience within the turbine or power generation industry is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as OSHA, CalOSHA, EPA, and ISO standards
- Ability to thrive within a large, multinational team environment
- Capable of working independently while maintaining excellent interpersonal relationships
