About the Role
MTN Nigeria, Africa's leading cellular telecommunications company, is looking for an experienced General Manager - Tax, Finance to lead our comprehensive tax function across the company, its subsidiaries, and the MTN Nigeria Foundation. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, you will be pivotal in driving tax strategy, ensuring rigorous compliance, and optimizing financial efficiency in a dynamic regulatory landscape.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute the MTN Nigeria Tax Policy, Tax Strategy, and Tax Risk Management framework in alignment with MTN Group policies and applicable laws.
- Provide strategic tax structuring advice for new business ventures, investments, mergers, acquisitions, and cross-border transactions.
- Oversee tax compliance, including corporate income tax, VAT, withholding tax, and stamp duties, ensuring timely filings and robust tax accounting under IAS 12.
- Manage relations and resolve tax disputes with relevant revenue authorities, advocating for a stable fiscal environment.
- Lead transfer pricing governance, ensuring compliance with Nigerian regulations and OECD guidelines.
- Drive tax technology transformation, process automation, and the optimization of external adviser costs.
- First degree in Accounting or a related financial discipline.
- Mandatory professional membership such as ICAN, CITN, or ACCA, with advanced tax certifications being an added advantage.
- Minimum of 12 years of progressive tax experience in-house or within a top-tier professional advisory firm.
- At least 3 years at a senior management level within telecommunications, ICT, financial services, or a large regulated sector.
