About the Role
At OBIDA, thoughtful design starts with how we think, work, and treat one another. Rooted in West African culture and craftsmanship, our design-led fashion and lifestyle brand is looking for a creative and meticulous Fashion Designer. In this role, you will take garments from first sketch to production-ready tech pack, bringing them to life through expert styling and photoshoots. You will directly shape how OBIDA looks, feels, and is made while collaborating with a vibrant, multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities- Develop original garment designs from creative direction, defining silhouettes, proportions, construction, and detailing.
- Produce accurate flats and production-ready tech packs containing precise measurements, finishes, and trims.
- Select, source, and negotiate with fabric and trim suppliers to ensure optimal quality, cost, and lead times.
- Oversee sampling processes, conduct fit assessments, and grant final approval before bulk production begins.
- Style looks for commercial shoots, lookbooks, and campaigns, making critical on-set styling decisions.
- Track styles, samples, and photoshoots against the production calendar, actively flagging and mitigating risks.
- 4 to 8 years of professional experience in garment design and technical development.
- Advanced expertise in fashion sketching, design development, and technical design pack creation.
- Deep knowledge of fabric sourcing, garment construction, costing, and design for manufacturability.
- Proven background in sampling, fit assessment, quality control, and supplier negotiation.
- Strong commercial awareness alongside exceptional calendar discipline and project management skills.
- Preferred qualifications include 3D design experience, menswear and accessories design expertise, and familiarity with African print and craft techniques.
