About the Role
Acmecare Montessori Academy, a reputable private co-educational day school in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, is seeking a dedicated and skilled English Language Teacher to join its academic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging English Language lessons, developing students' reading, writing, and comprehension skills, and creating a positive classroom experience that aligns with the school's mission of academic excellence and holistic development.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, prepare, and deliver well-structured English Language lessons in line with the school curriculum
- Develop students' reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills through interactive teaching methods
- Assess, record, and report on the development and progress of students
- Set and mark assignments, tests, and examinations in a timely and constructive manner
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and encourages student participation
- Identify students' learning needs and provide appropriate support or intervention
- Collaborate with other teachers and academic staff to enhance the overall curriculum delivery
- Maintain discipline and foster good conduct in accordance with the school's policies
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and school events as required
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding students' academic performance and progress
- M.Sc, B.Ed, or B.Sc with PGDE in English Language or related field
- 3–5 years of proven teaching experience, preferably at the primary or basic education level
- Strong knowledge of the English Language curriculum and modern teaching methodologies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Patience, creativity, and the ability to engage young learners effectively
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
