About the Role

Dangote Cement Plc, a subsidiary of the Dangote Group, is looking for a skilled and experienced HEMM Maintenance Engineer to join its dynamic engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring heavy mobile mining equipment such as excavators, loaders, dozers, rock breakers, and dumpers remain in safe, optimal operating condition through effective preventive maintenance planning, diagnostics, and repair execution.

This role requires strong technical expertise in engine overhauling, spare parts planning, and team leadership, along with proficiency in maintenance management systems to drive efficiency and reliability across the plant's heavy equipment fleet.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement preventive maintenance schedules while leading a team of technicians.
  • Track and report on preventive maintenance performance to management.
  • Lead an engine overhauling team comprising technicians and supervisors.
  • Independently oversee overhauling of engines for excavators, loaders, dozers, rock breakers, and dumpers.
  • Diagnose engine operational faults and implement effective corrective solutions.
  • Manage the overhaul and repair of approximately 100 engines across various equipment types.
  • Rebuild major engine components and oversee disassembly and reassembly processes.
  • Conduct performance testing and make necessary engine component adjustments.
  • Diagnose and resolve malfunctions or performance complaints related to engines.
  • Prepare and forecast spare parts requirements for engine overhauling projects.
  • Transfer technical knowledge and skills to technicians and supervisors to build team capacity.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in maintenance planning and engine overhauling for heavy equipment brands such as Komatsu, CAT, Doosan, Cummins, Scania, Detroit, and Liebherr.
  • Strong expertise in spare parts planning for engine overhaul operations.
  • Proficiency in SAP PM functionalities, including master data creation, preventive maintenance strategy, functional location setup, task list management, and maintenance planning.
