About the Role
ipNX Nigeria Limited is a leading provider of infrastructure-based Telecommunications and Information Technology services in Nigeria. We are currently expanding our broadband and fiber infrastructure to serve corporate organizations, small and medium-sized businesses, and residential customers. As part of our continued growth, we are looking for a dedicated and experienced Drill Locator to join our Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) operations team.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with project engineers and surveyors to analyze project plans, technical drawings, and determine optimal drill paths.
- Set up, calibrate, and operate tracking equipment including beacons, transmitters, and receivers to ensure accurate tracking of the drill head.
- Monitor drill head positioning in real-time and provide precise, timely guidance to the drill operator.
- Identify and locate underground utilities and third-party infrastructure to prevent damage during excavation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational discrepancies or subsurface obstacles proactively.
- Maintain comprehensive records of drill path data, operational details, and submit accurate daily progress reports.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry best practices in all HDD operations.
- University Degree in Telecommunications, Engineering, Applied Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of proven professional experience as a Drill Locator in HDD operations.
- Strong expertise in underground utility locating to safeguard existing infrastructure.
- Proficiency in path planning, route preparation, and interpreting technical engineering drawings.
- Familiarity with subsurface soil conditions, geological obstacles, and tracking software.
- Excellent communication skills for effective real-time coordination with drill operators.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, physical fitness for outdoor fieldwork, and high attention to detail.
