About the Role
Dangote Group is looking for a dedicated and experienced Deputy Harvesting Manager – Scrabbling Cane to join its Sugar operations in Numan. This role is critical to supporting the Harvest Manager in planning, organizing, coordinating, and monitoring sugar cane harvesting operations, ensuring production targets are consistently achieved while upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, environmental compliance, and cost efficiency.
As part of one of Africa's most diversified business conglomerates, the successful candidate will play a key role in driving operational excellence within Dangote's Sugar Manufacturing and Refining division, contributing to the Group's broader mission of building local manufacturing capacity, creating employment, and delivering essential products to communities across Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure strict adherence to harvest Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), from dry-off through to harvest quality and timely delivery of cane to the factory.
- Maintain close coordination with key stakeholders including factory operations, the Harvest and Transport Management System (HTMS), and the Scrab Manager to ensure seamless harvesting activities.
- Enforce compliance with company regulations regarding manpower management, wage payments, and workplace safety measures.
- Support the Harvest Manager in monitoring day-to-day harvesting operations to meet production and quality benchmarks.
- Identify and address operational bottlenecks to ensure timely and efficient cane delivery.
- Promote a culture of safety, discipline, and accountability among harvesting teams.
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, Farm Management, or a related field.
- Relevant professional certification will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in transportation, logistics, agricultural operations, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of sugar cane harvesting processes and best practices.
- Proven ability to manage large teams and coordinate multi-stakeholder operations effectively.
