About the Role
Are you a skilled writer with a passion for SEO and digital storytelling? MyJobMag is hiring a Content Writer on behalf of our client, a newly launched marketing company focused on local service businesses. This is a rare opportunity to join at the ground level and directly shape the brand's content, search presence, and outreach strategy from day one.
In this role, you will split your time between creating original, high-quality content and executing link-building and digital PR campaigns designed to boost visibility and authority. Your work will be central to the company's growth, not lost in a queue behind a dozen other writers.
Key Responsibilities- Write original, goal-driven content including blog posts, landing pages, and guides tied to clear objectives such as traffic, rankings, leads, or conversions
- Apply on-page SEO best practices, including keyword intent, content structure, internal linking, and meta elements
- Design supporting visuals using Canva or similar tools to enhance content quality
- Secure high-quality backlinks through guest posting on relevant, authoritative sites
- Develop linkable assets such as original research, tools, and in-depth guides that naturally attract links
- Plan and execute PR and outreach campaigns, including identifying targets, pitching, and following up with editors and site owners
- A portfolio of published online writing, whether bylined articles, a personal blog, or client work
- Demonstrated ability to produce 100% original content; AI-generated or plagiarized work will not be considered
- Solid working knowledge of SEO fundamentals
- Basic design skills using Canva or a similar tool
- Availability for full-time work, 8:00am to 5:00pm (West African Time)
- Comfort with outreach, including pitching editors and site owners, handling rejection, and following up persistently
- Prior link-building or digital PR experience is an advantage
- Familiarity with SEO tools such as Ahrefs, Semrush, or Google Search Console is a plus
- Experience working in a startup or early-stage environment is desirable
