About the Role

SPIE Oil & Gas Services is seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to join its technical team supporting upstream and downstream oil and gas operations in Nigeria. This role offers the opportunity to work with a globally recognised leader in oil and gas technical expertise, contributing to critical infrastructure and engineering projects across the full asset lifecycle.

As a Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for reviewing, approving, and coordinating civil and structural engineering designs, ensuring full compliance with company specifications, industry standards, and project requirements. You will play a key role in bridging engineering design with on-site construction execution, ensuring quality, safety, and technical integrity throughout all project phases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and approve civil designs, site preparatory works, and shop drawings in line with company procedures and standards
  • Ensure adherence to basis of design and specifications for buildings, civil, and structural works
  • Review and approve early works drawings, MTOs, and technical studies
  • Approve detailed engineering design deliverables including roads, excavation, jetty assessments, and onshore plant civil infrastructure
  • Analyse EPC contractor technical proposals for compliance with specifications and standards
  • Coordinate multiple engineering trades to achieve optimised, needs-based designs
  • Lead civil and structural engineering aspects, ensuring effective interface with other disciplines
  • Monitor fabrication activities on-site and in contractor yards for design compliance
  • Participate in project audits, HAZID, HAZOP, and 3D model reviews as required
  • Supervise construction of foundations, pipe sleepers, support structures, plant roads, and shore protection works
  • Approve Requests for Inspection (RFI) at key construction milestones
  • Review route surveys and rights of way to re-establish beacon points
  • Ensure project requirements are met safely, on budget, and within schedule
  • Maintain close coordination with engineering and construction contractors throughout EPC phases
  • Ensure technical quality, constructability, and functionality of all civil works
  • Oversee red-line markups, as-built documentation, and project close-out

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in civil and structural engineering
  • Proven experience in Oil and Gas EPC projects
  • Strong project management culture and mindset
  • Demonstrated HSE leadership and commitment to safety-by-design principles
  • Ability to train, mentor, and monitor engineering personnel on HSE responsibilities
  • Strong analytical, coordination, and communication skills
