About the Role

International Energy Services Limited (IESL), a leading multidisciplinary energy services company established in 1990, is seeking a highly experienced Chief Operating Officer (COO) to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight across its engineering, procurement, construction, and commercial functions. This is a senior executive opportunity for a results-driven leader to shape the operational future of a foremost player in Nigeria's oil and gas industry.

The COO will work closely with the Managing Director, Executive Management Team, and functional leaders to enhance operational efficiency, optimize resource utilization, manage risks, and strengthen the company's competitive position within the oil and gas, infrastructure, energy, and industrial sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the company's strategic and operational objectives.
  • Oversee end-to-end project delivery, including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and close-out.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in line with contractual obligations.
  • Provide quality oversight for engineering design, technical integrity, and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee procurement strategies, vendor management, and supply chain optimization.
  • Ensure safe, efficient, and quality-driven construction operations across project sites.
  • Lead operational excellence initiatives, digital transformation, and process standardization.
  • Manage operational budgets, cost performance, and project profitability in collaboration with Finance.
  • Champion a strong HSEQ culture and ensure compliance with statutory and international standards.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Identify and mitigate operational, commercial, and contractual risks.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop senior operational managers and build a high-performance culture.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering; a Master's degree in Engineering, Business Administration (MBA), or Project Management is highly desirable.
  • Registration with relevant professional bodies (e.g., COREN or equivalent) is required.
  • Minimum of 18 years' progressive experience in Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC).
  • At least 8–10 years in senior management or executive leadership roles.
  • Proven experience delivering mid-to-large scale EPC projects in oil and gas, energy, infrastructure, or industrial sectors.
  • Strong commercial, contractual, and project management experience, including FIDIC, NEC, and EPC contracts.
  • Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary teams with strong business and financial acumen.
