About the Role
Acmecare Montessori Academy, a reputable private co-educational day school in Port Harcourt, is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Chemistry Teacher to join its academic team. This role is ideal for an experienced educator who can simplify complex scientific concepts, inspire curiosity, and guide students toward academic excellence in Chemistry.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, prepare, and deliver well-structured Chemistry lessons in line with the approved curriculum.
- Develop lesson plans, schemes of work, and instructional materials that promote effective learning.
- Conduct practical laboratory sessions, ensuring safety protocols are strictly observed.
- Assess and evaluate students' performance through tests, assignments, and examinations.
- Provide timely feedback to students and parents on academic progress.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student development.
- Foster a positive, engaging, and disciplined classroom environment.
- Encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and scientific inquiry among students.
- Participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, and school-wide academic activities.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers to enhance the overall science curriculum.
- Prepare students adequately for internal and external examinations, including WAEC and NECO.
- M.Sc, B.Ed, or B.Sc (PGDE) in Chemistry or a related field.
- 3–5 years of relevant teaching experience, preferably at the secondary school level.
- Strong knowledge of the Nigerian secondary school Chemistry curriculum.
- Excellent communication, classroom management, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in conducting practical laboratory experiments safely and effectively.
- Ability to use modern teaching methods and instructional technology.
- Registration with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) is an advantage.
