About the Role
Daily Trust is looking for an experienced Checkpoint Editor to lead our specialist in-depth, premium, and accountability journalism unit. In this influential role, you will shape and deliver original, high-impact journalism across investigations, documentaries, data journalism, and fact-checking, giving Media Trust distinct editorial authority in the Nigerian media landscape.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the editorial direction, daily operations, and pipeline of the Checkpoint desk.
- Commission and oversee high-value investigations, explanatory features, and documentary projects.
- Drive rigorous fact-checking operations to counter misinformation and disinformation trends.
- Integrate data-driven reporting and visual storytelling into daily newsroom workflows.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a diverse team of investigative journalists, data analysts, and documentary producers.
- Ensure all published content adheres to the highest standards of accuracy, fairness, and legal compliance.
- Significant senior editorial experience in investigations, public-interest reporting, or long-form journalism.
- Demonstrated ability to originate and manage complex, multi-stage reporting projects.
- Strong expertise in verification, evidence-led reporting, and editorial risk management.
- Proven leadership skills with a collaborative approach to newsroom integration.
