About the Role

First Excelsia, a premier Human Resources, Organisational Development, and Management consulting firm, is recruiting a strategic Business Development Manager for the Development Sector. This role is pivotal in driving institutional business development, market expansion, and revenue growth by identifying and securing strategic partnerships with donor agencies, government institutions, multilateral organisations, and development partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute comprehensive development sector business development strategies aligned with corporate objectives
  • Identify and engage priority donor agencies, multilateral organisations, government institutions, NGOs, and development partners
  • Lead preparation, strategy, and submission of grants, RFPs, RFQs, tenders, EOIs, and competitive proposals
  • Coordinate cross-functional proposal teams ensuring high-quality, compliant submissions with strong quality assurance
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with institutional clients and key stakeholders through regular engagement
  • Represent the agency at industry conferences, donor meetings, and networking events
  • Lead commercial negotiations and support development of competitive, profitable proposals
  • Oversee seamless project transitions through structured handover processes with implementation teams
  • Monitor donor priorities, procurement pipelines, and competitor activity for market intelligence
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, opportunity tracking, forecasting, and business development documentation

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, International Development, Economics, Communications, or related discipline
  • Minimum 5-7 years progressive experience in institutional business development, partnerships, or grants management
  • At least 3 years in a supervisory or team leadership role
  • Proven track record securing institutional funding and winning competitive bids
  • Experience with donor agencies, multilateral organisations, or international development institutions
  • Strong proposal writing, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with CRM tools
  • Excellent analytical, research, and organisational abilities
