About the Role
Sundry Markets Limited, the proud owner of Marketsquare, Nigeria's premier modern grocery retail chain, is looking for a dedicated and experienced Branch Accountant. In this critical role, you will serve as the guardian of financial integrity at our branch level, driving accounting functions, ensuring strict adherence to company policies, and maintaining highly accurate financial records across our expanding locations in Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt, and other states.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and issue daily floats to cashiers while ensuring the safe handling and timely bank lodgment of all cash collections.
- Reconcile cash and POS transactions daily, balance tills, and promptly investigate or resolve any discrepancies.
- Vet and verify vendor invoices for accuracy prior to posting them onto the ERP system.
- Resolve customer POS and transactional disputes efficiently to maintain seamless retail operations.
- Prepare comprehensive monthly shortage reports and accurately process stock transfers between departments.
- Enforce robust financial controls, perform regular bank reconciliations, and post branch revenue into appropriate ERP journals.
- Minimum of a B.Sc. or HND in Accountancy, Finance, or a related discipline.
- At least 4 years of proven professional experience in an accounting or cash management role, preferably within retail or FMCG.
- Must possess an NYSC Discharge, Exemption, or Exclusion certificate.
- ICAN or ACCA certification is an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of financial reconciliation processes, internal controls, and ERP software proficiency.
