About the Role
District 9 Branded Residences (Velmonti Palace), Abuja's upcoming landmark ultra-luxury destination, is opening its doors for world-class hospitality talent! We are seeking an exceptional Beverage Director / Head Sommelier to lead our beverage program, curate an elite wine collection, and deliver unparalleled drinking experiences to our discerning clientele.
Key Responsibilities- Design, curate, and manage comprehensive wine lists, cocktail menus, and beverage programs that align with an ultra-luxury hospitality brand.
- Source rare and exceptional wines, spirits, and beverages globally while managing supplier relationships and inventory.
- Train, mentor, and inspire front-of-house staff, sommeliers, and bartenders on wine service, mixology, and product knowledge.
- Collaborate closely with executive chefs to create seamless wine and food pairings for fine dining, private events, and VIP guests.
- Oversee beverage cost controls, pricing strategies, stock rotation, and cellar management to ensure profitability and minimal wastage.
- Deliver personalized recommendations and exceptional service to high-net-worth guests, VIPs, and residents.
- Extensive professional experience as a Sommelier, Beverage Manager, or Beverage Director in luxury hotels, fine dining restaurants, or upscale hospitality venues.
- Recognized sommelier certification (e.g., Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET Level 3 or Diploma, or equivalent international credentials).
- Deep, encyclopedic knowledge of international wines, spirits, cocktails, and industry trends.
- Exceptional leadership and training skills with a proven track record of team development.
- Impeccable communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills tailored for luxury clientele.
- Strong business acumen with proven experience in inventory control, P&L management, and vendor negotiations.
