About the Role
Proten International is currently recruiting an Assistant Geotechnical Laboratory Technician on behalf of our esteemed client. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting laboratory operations, geological sample preparation, rigorous testing, and accurate data analysis. We are looking for a dedicated professional who can ensure all laboratory activities comply with established safety standards and quality requirements while maintaining operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Receive, label, catalogue, and safely store geological samples for laboratory testing.
- Collect and prepare soil, rock, and other geological specimens for analysis in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Set up, clean, maintain, and recalibrate laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Conduct assigned laboratory tests and determine appropriate testing procedures for sample analysis.
- Record test results, compile data, and prepare reports for review and interpretation.
- Maintain accurate equipment records, daily work logs, laboratory databases, and other technical documentation.
- Organise and store geological samples in line with safety requirements to preserve their integrity.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe laboratory environment.
- B.Sc. in Geology or an applied science discipline such as Chemistry or Physics with a minimum of a Second Class Lower degree.
- 3 to 5 years of experience working as a laboratory technician in a geotechnical or related testing laboratory.
- Familiarity with basic geological software and computer applications for analyzing samples.
- Strong scientific reasoning, analytical abilities, and mechanical aptitude.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Commitment to health and safety policies and professional conduct.
