About the Role
Chessington Schools, a premier provider of holistic education for the Nigerian child across nursery, primary, and college levels, is seeking a seasoned and dedicated Accountant/Bursar. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the overall financial management, strategic budgeting, accounting, and comprehensive financial reporting of the institution. We are looking for a financial professional who can ensure the prudent management of school funds, maintain robust internal controls, and support our mission of delivering academic excellence through sound financial stewardship.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare accurate school invoices, issue official receipts, and maintain an up-to-date fees database.
- Drive prompt school fees debt recovery, track outstanding bills, and follow up with parents professionally and tactfully.
- Advise school management proactively on fees defaulters and cash flow optimization.
- Manage the school budget, monitoring income, expenditures, and overall financial performance.
- Oversee comprehensive bank reconciliations and maintain healthy cash flow management.
- Process statutory remittances including PAYE, Pension, and NSITF accurately and on time.
- Provide expert financial advice to management on institutional planning, cost savings, and investments.
- Maintain an accurate and audited inventory of all school assets and stock.
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (ICAN/ANAN certification is a strong advantage).
- Proven professional experience working in a financial management or bursary role, preferably within the education sector.
- Mature and experienced candidates only, aged 35 years and above.
- Exceptional proficiency in financial software, spreadsheet management, and accounting principles.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for professional engagement with parents and management.
- Deep understanding of Nigerian financial regulations, tax laws, and statutory compliance.
