About the Role

We are currently looking for a driven and experienced Account Officer to join our finance team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring timely payments, accurate accounting, and thorough reconciliations for all company expenditures in strict compliance with approved approval limits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure all petty cash disbursements comply fully with company policies and authorization limits.
  • Process bills and supplier invoices, verifying that proper compliances and approvals are obtained prior to payment.
  • Charge expenses to appropriate accounts and cost centers by analyzing expense reports and recording accurate entries.
  • Manage vendor payments by monitoring discount opportunities, verifying tax identification numbers, scheduling disbursements, and resolving discrepancies.
  • Ensure continuous tax compliance across all daily transaction processing.
  • Disburse and monitor cash advances and IOUs issued to staff members.
  • Maintain, manage, and update transaction postings within the bank management and payables modules of Sage.
  • Conduct daily cash counts and prepare accurate daily cash position reports.
  • Maintain an efficient filing system for corporate and transaction files.
  • Assist with period-end ledger closing through call-ups and general ledger balance reconciliations.
  • Perform daily petty cash reconciliations and monthly reconciliations for balance sheet accounts and corporate banks.
  • Track direct credits across various bank accounts to ensure prompt value receipt.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Professional accounting certification (e.g., ACA, ACCA) or in-progress status is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 2 to 5 years of proven hands-on accounting and bookkeeping experience, preferably within logistics or supply chain environments.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, specifically Sage, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical mindset with high attention to detail and impeccable numerical accuracy.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and statutory compliance standards.
